When I was the president of the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation our staff was indoctrinated in “The Aunt Millie Rule”. The rule was simple . I asked them to picture my Aunt Millie at 75 years old, reaching in to her pocketbook to get her change purse. You know, the little round leather one that clips at the top. I wanted them to visualize her beautiful old hands reaching in to that purse for a single dollar to buy a raffle ticket from me. “What did Aunt Millie think I would do with that dollar?” I’d ask them. “Buy more expensive file folders at Staples? No. She thought I would use it to help cure Alicia, her great niece. Every time you order something. Every time you book a hotel or a flight or a buy a meal on the road I want you to think about Aunt Millie and that change purse. Could you go back to her and tell her what you just used her dollar for?”
So I ask you 501 c(3) CFO, Executive director or Board member. Does your Aunt Millie want you to overpay for your office machines? We all understand the necessity of running the business and at the same time we all want to minimize those costs and direct as much of every dollar Aunt Millie gives us to what Aunt Millie had in mind when she gave it; funding our programs and helping our community.
Call Charity Advocacy Partners today. It costs you nothing to let us have a look and Aunt Millie would certainly approve of that price.
