When I was the president of the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation our staff was indoctrinated in “The Aunt Millie Rule”. The rule was simple . I wanted them to visualize her beautiful old hands reaching in to that purse for a single dollar to buy a raffle ticket from me. “What did Aunt Millie think I would do with that dollar?” I’d ask them. “Buy more expensive file folders at Staples? No. She thought I would use it to help cure Alicia, her great niece.
